History of our Organisation

Grama Suyaraj means Village Self Governance (a dream of Mahatma Gandhi). With it as its name a Society was established. It was registered on 2nd September 1987 and has been recognized by the Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India and is eligible to receive foreign contribution. As the name Grama Suyaraj implies, our organization has, as its goal and vision, to make each and every village an autonomous community able to govern and develop by themselves by being self-reliant which was the vision of Mahatma Gandhi who even today is revered as the Father of the Nation. It has been formed by a good number of development experts having practical experience in the field of rural development with an urge to help the poor to help themselves.

A team of dedicated workers with a versatile experience in the field for more than 15 years from the core of the organization. The Executive Secretary of Grama Suyaraj, Mr. V.R. Annathurai had the practical experience of the working for more than 15 years with different National and International organization at the time of starting of the organization. Grama Suyaraj has been started with an intention to help the rural folk who have been ignored, neglected and deprived of development opportunities both by the Government and other private Agencies.
